PokeBonk Metapod

Pokemon · Caterpie line · last checked 2026-10-20

PokeBonk Metapod is a Bug-type Pokemon that you cannot pick at the start of a run: it is the evolved form of Caterpie, a League Pokemon. Play Caterpie and it evolves into Metapod automatically at player level 16, which raises your HP and damage multiplier to 1.12x. Metapod keeps the Caterpie kit and upgrades the Ultimate to Fortress. The line sits in B tier with a Kit Score of 36.4.

How to get Metapod in PokeBonk

You do not unlock Metapod directly. First unlock Caterpie through its League challenge and catch it; the PokeBonk unlock Pokemon guide lists the conditions. Then pick Caterpie for a run and level up: evolution in a run depends only on your player level, not on stones or trades, so Metapod arrives at level 16.

Each stage adds 0.12 to your HP and damage multiplier, so an evolved form hits harder and takes more hits than the Pokemon you started with. An Eviolite helps until the last stage. See PokeBonk evolution for every line.

Metapod moves and passive

Metapod uses the same four-move kit as Caterpie; evolving does not swap moves. Its passive is Metamorphosis: +15% experience and +20 shield. Evolves soon (Metapod at Lv. 8, Butterfree at Lv. 36). As Metapod, the cocoon gives you +30 armor.

Metapod Ultimate

At this stage the Ultimate is Fortress, lasting 4 seconds: The cocoon hardens: 4 s of invulnerability, a 40% shield and repelling waves, with a burst at the end. The PokeBonk Ultimate guide explains how to charge it faster.

Metapod evolution levels in PokeBonk

In PokeBonk every evolution happens by player level inside a run, whatever the main games ask for. The Caterpie line evolves like this: Caterpie evolves into Metapod at level 16 and Metapod evolves into Butterfree at level 36.

Metapod stats in runs

The game turns base stats into run stats with the share of each stat in the base stat total, so a balanced Pokemon and a lopsided one end up with different strengths. Each evolution stage adds 0.12 to the HP and damage multiplier. These are the starting values before Lab upgrades, items and vitamins:
