PokeBonk Gyarados

Pokemon · Magikarp line · last checked 2026-10-20

PokeBonk Gyarados is a Water and Flying Pokemon that you cannot pick at the start of a run: it is the evolved form of Magikarp, a League Pokemon. Play Magikarp and it evolves into Gyarados automatically at player level 36, which raises your HP and damage multiplier to 1.12x. Gyarados keeps the Magikarp kit and upgrades the Ultimate to Gyarados's Fury. The line sits in C tier with a Kit Score of 20.3.

How to get Gyarados in PokeBonk

You do not unlock Gyarados directly. First unlock Magikarp through its League challenge and catch it; the PokeBonk unlock Pokemon guide lists the conditions. Then pick Magikarp for a run and level up: evolution in a run depends only on your player level, not on stones or trades, so Gyarados arrives at level 36.

Each stage adds 0.12 to your HP and damage multiplier, so an evolved form hits harder and takes more hits than the Pokemon you started with. An Eviolite helps until the last stage. See PokeBonk evolution for every line.

Gyarados moves and passive

Gyarados uses the same four-move kit as Magikarp; evolving does not swap moves. Its passive is Perseverance: +60% experience. With it, it reaches a fearsome evolution before anyone else (Lv. 40).

Gyarados Ultimate

At this stage the Ultimate is Gyarados's Fury, lasting 3 seconds: Gyarados roars and charms everyone, two waterspouts advance toward your target and a Hyper Beam sweeps the front. With Maturity it starts to rain and a wave finishes it off. The PokeBonk Ultimate guide explains how to charge it faster.

Gyarados evolution levels in PokeBonk

In PokeBonk every evolution happens by player level inside a run, whatever the main games ask for. The Magikarp line evolves like this: Magikarp evolves into Gyarados at level 36. Magikarp's Perseverance passive gives +60% experience, so it reaches Gyarados sooner than the level suggests.

Gyarados stats in runs

The game turns base stats into run stats with the share of each stat in the base stat total, so a balanced Pokemon and a lopsided one end up with different strengths. Each evolution stage adds 0.12 to the HP and damage multiplier. These are the starting values before Lab upgrades, items and vitamins:

Where Gyarados appears as a boss

Besides being playable, Gyarados is listed as a boss on the maps: Storm Coast as the listed zone 1 boss (map not open in Season 1). Boss HP is budgeted from your own damage per second, so the fight length stays close to the game's targets; the PokeBonk maps page lists every boss slot.
