PokeBonk Gengar

Pokemon · Gastly line · last checked 2026-10-20

PokeBonk Gengar is a Ghost and Poison Pokemon that you cannot pick at the start of a run: it is the evolved form of Gastly, a League Pokemon. Play Haunter and it evolves into Gengar automatically at player level 42, which raises your HP and damage multiplier to 1.24x. Gengar keeps the Gastly kit and upgrades the Ultimate to Gengar's Shadow. The line sits in A tier with a Kit Score of 51.2.

How to get Gengar in PokeBonk

You do not unlock Gengar directly. First unlock Gastly through its League challenge and catch it; the PokeBonk unlock Pokemon guide lists the conditions. Then pick Gastly for a run and level up: evolution in a run depends only on your player level, not on stones or trades, so Gengar arrives at level 42.

Each stage adds 0.12 to your HP and damage multiplier, so an evolved form hits harder and takes more hits than the Pokemon you started with. An Eviolite helps until the last stage. See PokeBonk evolution for every line.

Gengar moves and passive

Gengar uses the same four-move kit as Gastly; evolving does not swap moves. Its passive is Ghost: You plow through the horde: -20% damage taken and +10% evasion.

Gengar Ultimate

At this stage the Ultimate is Gengar's Shadow, lasting 3.2 seconds: Six Gengar emerge from your shadow and leap at the enemies while Shadow Balls rain down; cursed enemies take double. The PokeBonk Ultimate guide explains how to charge it faster.

Gengar evolution levels in PokeBonk

In PokeBonk every evolution happens by player level inside a run, whatever the main games ask for. The Gastly line evolves like this: Gastly evolves into Haunter at level 30 and Haunter evolves into Gengar at level 42.

Gengar stats in runs

The game turns base stats into run stats with the share of each stat in the base stat total, so a balanced Pokemon and a lopsided one end up with different strengths. Each evolution stage adds 0.12 to the HP and damage multiplier. These are the starting values before Lab upgrades, items and vitamins:

Where Gengar appears as a boss

Besides being playable, Gengar is listed as a boss on the maps: Lavender Tower as the listed zone 1 boss (map not open in Season 1). Boss HP is budgeted from your own damage per second, so the fight length stays close to the game's targets; the PokeBonk maps page lists every boss slot.
